I am at a loss. I have read everything in site and I can not find an answer to why I can not import a show I have uploaded.
I was told before I had spaces in my filenames so I went in and fixed those and it said that the filenames were succesfully changed but I still get this message. (Notice the (/) in the directory does that have to be there?)

"Directory: /particle2005-01-22.flac16
Band Abbreviation: particle
Show Date: 2005-01-22

The abbreviation particle is associated with Particle.If this is not the band or artist that performed this show, please log into the FTP server and rename the directory to the abbreviation which is associated with the correct artist. If this is correct, please review Particle's policy before importing this show.

This directory or files contained within the directory have illegal characters in the name. To continue you will need to log into the FTP server and rename the files and directories. A legal directory or file name starts with a letter or a number, and has at least one more legal character (a number, a letter, a dash, an underscore (e.g. _), or a period). Please also ensure that you modify the MD5 file to reflect these renames"

Does anyone have an idead what is wrong?????????
I went step by step to make sure everything is named correctly and lines up the way it should. This is becoming a big pain in the ass! Please someone just point me in the right direction?!?!
Thanks

Can you copy and paste a few of the .flac/.txt/.md5 file names here (copy and paste if you can so they are exactly like they are in your upload folder) so I can look and see if they look weird?

cheers

Sure thing I will have to do this after work today.
Thanks for the input guys!
I know this has got to be something real simple. The problem is I am doing this at my friends house I walked him through removing the spaces over the phone so I have not seen what the files look like since we originaly uploaded.
Is there a way to view them online without using SmartFTP ?
I will post a sample of the files as soon as I get off work.

All of the FLAC files have spaces in the names still.

particle2005-01-22 d1t01.flac
particle2005-01-22 d1t02.flac
particle2005-01-22 d1t03.flac
particle2005-01-22 d1t04.flac
particle2005-01-22 d1t05.flac
particle2005-01-22 d2t01.flac
particle2005-01-22 d2t02.flac

FTP to the upload server, rename those files so they don't use a space, then try importing.

The File Level Admin has to come in with his file level access and show us all up. I hope you're happy crushing the dreams us lower levelers have of solving a file issue. ;)

I know it. It's easy when you can just swoop down and wave the magic "File Level Access" finger isn't it!

Wow...this is how it must have felt to be Jimmy Olsen :)

On the other hand, to feel like the Sorcerer's Apprentice might be even less comfortable. ;)

Ah my friend was sure he removed all of those spaces. After renaming files it says" files renamed succesfully is there something else we need to do to finalize the change?

Here's an FAQ about illegal characters, maybe it'll help find the files that are messing things up:

=============
When I try to import my upload, I am getting the error message 'This directory or files contained within the directory have illegal characters in the name' What does this mean?

The folder or files that you sent to the upload server have characters in the name that cause problems with the system - so we have designated them "illegal". This includes the following characters in the name:

* ( ) { } [ ] / \ $ % @ # ^ & | < >

In addition, files and folders may *not* have spaces in the naming.

You will need to remove any of these illegal characters in order for the system to accept your contribution.
